We did it at Mama Melrose’s last time and LOVED it! You don’t need reserved seating for Fantasmic, but it’s my favourite nighttime show and we just adore having those guaranteed seats.

This wasn’t there during our last trip and it looks like so much fun! We’re big Toy Story fans, so I think the kids will love the theming.

Still my number 1 character dining experience. The views, the food, the outfits — it’s just perfection!

My two LOVE teppanyaki-style cooking, and my daughter especially has such a love for Japanese food — noodles, rice, you name it.

And yes, I’m already planning and scheduling all our park days for our trip this autumn!

I can’t help it – I LOVE planning. But… even I know that with Walt Disney World, it’s all about getting the right balance. You want to be clued up, but not so scheduled that you can’t go with the flow (because trust me – things will change!).

Here’s what I recommend if you have a WDW trip planned:

🗺️ Get to know the parks – they’re all so different and it helps to know what’s where.
🎢 Work out which rides suit your family – especially height limits and thrill levels!
🍔 Have a rough idea of where to eat – and whether you can mobile order to skip the queues.
📺 Watch vlogs – super helpful for understanding layout, rides, and getting your bearings.
⚡ Learn how to use Lightning Lanes & virtual queues – don’t waste time or money on the day!
🎉 Check for special events – they can affect park hours or crowds (hello Halloween parties!).

When it comes to the actual plan:
🗓️ Keep your days flexible – don’t cram in too much.
🛌 Always schedule rest days (especially after fireworks nights!).
🔁 Have backup park days in case of cancellations, tired legs, or change of plans

A Night in Nottingham

My husband and I snuck off to Nottingham for the night (no kids—can you hear the silence?) to go and see the Only Fools and Horses musical… and it did not disappoint! Proper belly laughs, so many great little nods for fans of the show, and the theatre was absolutely packed. Well worth a watch if you get the chance!

We made a night of it with dinner out, then popped to Heavenly Desserts for something sweet before heading into the theatre. (Highly recommend the Monkey Bread!)

We stayed at the Hilton in Nottingham city centre, which was the perfect base—just a few minutes’ walk from the theatre. Ideal if you’re planning a night out or a show. We even got a cheeky upgrade to a King Deluxe room and a little treat on check in, which was such a nice touch.

So… how did we manage a fab hotel stay without spending a fortune?

Here’s a little travel agent secret I don’t shout about enough:
One of the best perks of being in the biz is having access to booking systems that scan everything—from the usual public sites to secret-agent-only platforms with better rates, special deals, and perks.

When I book for myself, I also get to keep the commission that’s usually built into the price. So I save straight away.
I also dropped the Hilton a little note before we arrived to let them know I was coming (and that I’m an agent), and sure enough… we were looked after like VIPs.

Not everyone joins the travel business to sell holidays full-time. Lots of people do it just for the travel perks and to book smarter for themselves and their family. Honestly, if you’ve ever thought about it—even just as a side hustle—I’m always happy to chat!

Is Stockeld Park worth the hype? Spoiler alert… YES!

From magical forests and bouncing inflatables to one of Europe’s BIGGEST indoor play zones – this place is an absolute win for family fun!

We’re talking fairies, giant teapots, space slides, jungle climbs and enough giggles to last the whole week. And guess what? Grown-ups can join in the Playhive fun too… so yes, I did race the kids down the slide (and yes, I lost).

York Day 3 – A bit of York, a bit of Leeds… and a whole lot of fun!

We kicked off our morning at the National Railway Museum in York. Now, we’re not exactly train buffs, so a lot of it was lost on us, but we still found it fascinating to see the historic engines and carriages up close.

The museum’s café made the perfect pit stop for an early lunch before we hit the road again.

Top tip: You can park at the museum and hop on the land train straight into York city centre – super handy if you’re planning a full day out!

Then it was time to head to Wetherby for an afternoon of adventure at Stockeld Park – and oh my goodness, what a hidden gem!

The sun was shining, so we made the most of the outdoor fun. The Enchanted Forest was full of fairy-tale vibes, magical glades, and interactive play areas – including a l teapot slide! There were bouncy inflatables too – the kind that make the kids go wild and the grown-ups tempted to join in…

Sadly, we didn’t get to try The Magical Maze (ran out of time!), but it looked fab and is definitely on the list for next time.

The real showstopper though? The Playhive.

It’s one of Europe’s largest indoor play spaces – and honestly, it gave us serious Disney vibes. Think four themed worlds: space, air, jungle, and sea – all connected by tunnels, slides, high walkways, and interactive games. And yes, it’s all accessible for adults too… so we 100% embraced our inner kids and zoomed down those slides!

Stockeld Park – you have our hearts. We’ll absolutely be back!

Day 2 – York Adventures

Today was all about Flamingo Land! We had a fun day with a mix of highs and lows (as theme park days often go!).

The morning started a bit bumpy – our first ride broke down while we were queuing (typical!), so that was half an hour gone, and the next queue we joined looked short but ended up being a 45-minute wait… not ideal when you’re eager to get going!

But things definitely picked up from there! We managed to do all the big rides with the big one and enjoyed some of the gentler ones with our little one too – love that balance. Lunch was a bit of a letdown (overpriced and super slow), but hey, it’s all part of the theme park experience, right?

I have to say, Sik really surprised me – it gave major VelociCoaster vibes with that lap bar-only restraint and some serious corkscrews! Not quite Universal, but definitely a thrill-seeker’s dream.

And I also found out Flamingo Land has a couple of Guinness World Records to its name!
Mumbo Jumbo held the title for steepest roller coaster in the world with its 112° vertical drop when it opened in 2009, and in 2017, a 105-year-old set the record for oldest person to ride a non-inversion coaster on Twistosaurus – how amazing is that?

The weather’s been a bit on the chilly side, so we were very glad we packed our coats. Finished the day with a cosy takeaway, another dip in the hot tub and a game of cards – the perfect way to warm up and wind down!

Day one in York – complete!

We’ve had such a lovely start to our trip. We wandered down the Shambles (so much charm in every corner!) and explored a few different spots along the way.

Brunch was an absolute highlight – we stopped at Brew & Brownie and oh my goodness, the French toast and pancakes were to die for! If you’re ever in York, I highly recommend it.

Next up was York’s Chocolate Story – such good fun and we even made our own chocolate lollipops (which may or may not have been eaten already…).

We also paid a visit to York Ghost Merchants – the shop on the Shambles had a 30–45 minute queue, so we popped over to their second location just a 15-minute walk away. No queue and still a magical experience – we loved picking our own ghosties!

Finally, we made it to our beautiful lodge… hot tub included! The kids have had a splash while I’ve enjoyed a well-earned glass of chilled white wine. Bliss.
